Cosmic smash-up provides proof of dark matter

Cosmic smash-up provides proof of dark matter - space - 21 August 2006 - New Scientist Space

SO ... Long story short .. 100 Million years ago ... two galaxies smash into each other at 10.49 MILLION miles per hour .... Unleashing enough energy to vaporize the Earth ... ten trillion trillion times ..... the gas in each of these two galaxies (which exists in about a 10 X surplus to the star-matter in them) exerts a drag on each other, and is separated out ... while the stars and Dark Matter keep on moving their merry way.
Reason being ...... Electromagnetism doesn't affect Dark Matter AT ALL .
It does affect and slow gas.
Normal Baryonic matter only interacts with Dark Matter through exchanges mediated by gravitons, i.e. Gravity. This would tend to make sense. Photons are the mediators of electromagnetic force ... and Dark Matter seems not to emit or interact with photons.

Riddle of infectious dog cancer solved

New Scientist Breaking News - Riddle of infectious dog cancer solved

The scientists say this cancer originated in a wolf, husky, or Shih Tzu, anywhere from 250 to 1000 years ago. Then it spread the DNA from the original dog, all over the face of the planet, like a wildfire.

These findings contradict current thinking about cancers. In most cancers, the cancer cells continue to mutate, and the chromosomes become more and more fragmented. However, in this case, the greatly disrupted chromosomes have reached a kind of steady-state which allows them to pass from generation to generation of dogs.

When I spotted this article, I knew I was going to mention the plight of the Tasmanian devils, and the spread, through their ranks of the facial cancers that are decimating their populations, but I see it was mentioned in the article.

Ancient Fossilized Embryos Imaged in 3D

Synchroton-radiation x-ray tomographic microscopy or SRXTM, looks to be an extremely exciting new method for imaging tiny fossils in 3D.
It has the capabilities of a medical CT scan, with about 3000 times the resolution! Details of less than one micron are illuminated. That's one millionth of a meter, or a thousandth of a millimeter, folks.... :)
