Goodbye, Mr. Miyagi

Goodbye, Mr. Miyagi - Nov 25, 2005 - E! Online News

He was Arnold from "Happy Days" to kids of the '70s .... Mr. Miyagi from "Karate Kid" to kids in the '80s, ... and the voice of the Emperor in Disney's "Mulan" to kids in the '80s ......

Sadly, actor, comedian Pat Morita has passed away.......
Funny how some people give you so many enjoyable memories through their contributions to film and television .....

I was looking for things not pertaining to the two major things, I suppose Mr. Morita was best known for, i.e. "The Karate Kid" series of movies, and his role on "Happy Days" and I found an independant movie that is not listed in the Internet Movie Database listing on his life, HERE.

The film is called "Only the Brave", and it is about one of the all Nisei combat units that fought in Europe.
They tell all about it HERE and if you read it, you can find out about one of the 10 most significant battles of WWII, and find out about a road named Rue de Honolulu ...............

BTW ... Pat Morita was placed in an internment camp for U.S. citizens of Japanese descent, during WWII ..... unlike the U.S. citizens of Japanese descent depicted in the movie.

Living camera uses bacteria to capture image

New Scientist Breaking News - Living camera uses bacteria to capture image

Wish the scientists would consider making this available --- and also in some sort of bacteria other than E. Coli --- because the 4 hours it takes to make a picture, seems like it make it very amenable to use in pinhole cameras.

I'm sure they could use beam-splitters, and come up with different proteins that would react with different colors (wavelengths) of light. This could allow a full-color image to be build up, and at a resolution of 10,000 lines per inch. That's close to 400 lines per millimeter.

Strange to me ... that these two supernova envelopes appear to have flat polygonal sides.... on closer examination .. the green area inside the smaller envelope has 4 of 6 "edges" that are roughly parallel to the sides of it's outer envelope.... AND the second supernova envelope occludes the two missing "edges" of the smaller supernova envelope, so you can't tell if they would be parallel too .....

'Blended wing' craft passes wind-tunnel tests

New Scientist Breaking News - 'Blended wing' craft passes wind-tunnel tests

Saw this on NASA TV, and it left me wondering if the umbilical, besides sending control data from the three "pilots" and recording sensor data, also sent electricity to power the three engines during it's free flight. If not, then I don't see how the craft maintained it's position in the wind-tunnel.
