Now it appears that a lot of Antarctica's lakes, that exist under kilometers of ice, occasionally become over-pressurized and pop like champagne corks, and flow via sub-glacial rivers, on to the next lake, in the string-of-pearls system of lakes and rivers. Some are suspected of being as big as the river Thames in England.
