Scientists probe anti-ageing gene

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Scientists probe anti-ageing gene

When scientists overexpressed the Klotho gene in mice, the mice averaged living 20 to 30 percent longer than normal mice. Humans have an almost identical Klotho gene in their bodies. The gene itself is conserved in many species, and seems to affect aging in all those species. It is involved with insulin-signaling pathways in the body, so further study in needed.
