FROM THE ARTICLE:
"Popular digital SLR cameras from Canon and Nikon generally set you back around $1,000. But discounters will likely drive that down to $299 by year's end, says Chris Chute, an analyst at researcher IDC. That's just a tad higher than most people pay now for compact point-and-shoots. "This will dramatically reshape the digital camera market," Chute says."

That sounds good!
Yeah .. I can't wait. I'm also hoping they FINALLY get around to using that DaVinci chip that Texas Instruments came up with. IIRC, they told about it at PMA 2006 .. and just now --- at PMA 2007, they have finally put out a reference design, for an 8 Megapixel Point-and-Shoot, using the DaVinci chip, and a new Micron CMOS sensor.
That DaVinci chip will allow 5fps or slightly higher, with that 8 Megapixel sensor.
This could be another factor that will drive DSLR prices down by the end of the year.
