Colony collapse disorder or CCD, is a nation-wide epidemic in honeybees. Our scientists haven't been able to pin it down to a single cause, and it might even be the source that killed off 40-60 percent of the nation's honeybees, two years ago. At the time, the cause was attributed to the parasitic varroa mite, that clogs the trachea of the bees, causing them to choke to death.
