Forgot to mention the utility of this method in possibly extracting Neanderthal DNA from ancient bones.

I also find it interesting that some scientists have used a similar method to extract the DNA of numerous creatures from the soil and feces mix found in old caves. This certainly goes against the dogma of the time, that such material would be horrendously contaminated with so many strains of bacterial DNA and the DNA from other creatures.
